Bristol woman's camera allegedly catches neighbor breaking into home

Bobby J. Shifflett, 71

Police report a Bristol, Tenn., man has been arrested for stealing from his neighbor's residence, where the victim allegedly recorded his burglary with surveillance equipment.

Bobby J. Shifflett, 71, was arrested Wednesday evening. The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office says they were contacted by Shifflett's neighbor in the 2000 Block of Highway 126, who reported coming home to find money stolen from her bedroom.

The woman reportedly added that since October several items have went missing from her home, prompting her to install a surveillance camera inside the residence. Police say the equipment captured Shifflett entering her home on March 10 and rummaging through her belongings.

That alleged evidence prompted Shifflett's arrest on charges of theft of less than $500 and aggravated burglary. He was booked into the Sullivan County jail.
