SPRINGFIELD — Seeking its third straight TAACS championship, the Tri-Cities Christian girls basketball team cruised to a 57-36 victory over Lighthouse Christian on Friday in the state semifinals.
The Lady Golden Eagles (23-13) jumped on top 25-9 after the first period and extended their advantage to 42-16 by halftime.
Five Tri-Cities players hit two 3-pointers each in the blowout.
Alicia Cook led the Lady Golden Eagles with 16 points and eight rebounds. Beca Cox scored 15 points, and Sarah Cox chipped in 10 points and grabbed six steals for TCC. Faith Browder had nine rebounds and three steals for the Lady Golden Eagles.
Tri-Cities will take on Berean Academy of Chattanooga in Saturday’s championship contest.
VHSL Group A Boys
Radford 59, Virginia High 42
SALEM, Va. — Isiah Phillips scored 17 points to lead Radford over Virginia High in their VHSL Group A, Division 2 quarterfinal game at the Salem Civic Center.
Nate Jones scored 11 points for the Bobcats (26-2), who face Dan River or Essex at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Virginia Commonwealth’s Siegel Center in Richmond. Zach Bradley had eight rebounds for Radford, who held a 37-23 edge on the boards over the Bearcats.
Touré Fudge scored 13 points to lead Virginia High (13-15), Nick Howard added 13 and Derek Lee had nine.
Zach Bossard was a no-show for Friday’s game after having reportedly left the team.
