JOHNSON CITY — East Tennessee State University’s student Entrepreneurs’ Club will welcome Dr. Michael Browder as its speaker at 5 p.m., Monday, March 4, in room 334 of Sam Wilson Hall.
His topic will be “Disruptive Innovation: Sustainability and the Triple Bottom Line.”
Browder, a past chairman of the American Public Power Association, has served as chief executive officer of Bristol Tennessee Essential Services (BTES) for more than 35 years.
He has an electrical engineering degree from Auburn University, a master of administrative science degree from the University of Alabama-Huntsville and a doctorate in educational leadership and policy analysis from ETSU. In addition, he is a registered professional engineer.
BTES is among the select few electric utilities in the United States providing fiber optic technology to homes and businesses in their service areas, and BTES now has gigabit ethernet available to all customers.
In 2013, BTES will be one of only two organizations to receive the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence-Level 4 Excellence Award based on the Malcolm Baldrige Criteria. In 20 years, only 22 awards have been presented at the Excellence Level.
The public is invited to this free program.
