Accused Hawkins pill dealer facing new charges

EDWARD GLENN JOHNSON JR.

ROGERSVILLE — Wednesday night the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit arrested Edward Glenn Johnson Jr., 31, 200 Holston Terrace Drive, Rogersville, following an investigation into transport of illegal controlled substances.

Narcotics officers were maintaining surveillance on Johnson Wednesday when they learned of an outstanding violation of probation warrant.

Johnson was then observed to be traveling south on Marble Hall Road west of Rogersville when he pulled up to another vehicle on the side of the roadway. Narcotics officers then approached Johnson and placed him in custody on the violation of probation warrant.

During a search, deputies allegedly seized oxycodone and Opana pills hidden inside of a flashlight in Johnson’s vehicle. Deputies also allegedly recovered a pouch that contained syringes and other small items of drug paraphernalia.

Johnson was charged with two counts of possession of Schedule II narcotics with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. His vehicle was seized and he was ordered held in the Hawkins County Jail without bond.

At the time of his arrest, Johnson was free on bond stemming from a Jan. 9 HCSO arrest for possession of Schedule II narcotics with intent to deliver (Opana and oxycodone).
