Prosecutor: Fired Tennessee jailer made extortion threat

February 13th, 2013 1:04 pm by Associated Press

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — Rutherford County authorities have arrested a fired jailer on a felony extortion charge.

According to The Daily News Journal, Jessica Lehew is accused of threatening to release embarrassing information about her former husband, who is a deputy for the sheriff's office, if she was not given her job back.

District Attorney General William Whitesell (WHYT'-sel) said a plea bargain for a misdemeanor charge is possible in the case.

Sheriff Robert Arnold said Lehew's claims about her ex-husband are not true. He is Will Lehew.

Arnold said Jessica Lehew made the threat in an email to him early Monday morning.

Lehew is free on bond. A court hearing on Feb. 27 will determine whether she has an attorney.
