Knoxville investigators Thursday night helped Texas authorities arrest a 54-year-old man accused in the 1977 slaying of his step-father in El Paso, reports the Knoxville News Sentinel.
Rodger Evan Garrett appeared after 6 p.m. at Knoxville Police Department headquarters and was charged with murder, according to Police Department spokesman Darrell DeBusk.
Garrett was booked at the Knox County Sheriff's Detention Facility on a $5,000 bond pending an extradition hearing.
