NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Bands of rain are moving eastward across Tennessee and some of the precipitation is freezing.
Most school systems in East Tennessee called off classes early Monday after freezing rain made some back roads and bridges slippery. The northern counties of Middle Tennessee also had several school closings. West Tennessee has fewer precipitation problems with slightly warmer temperatures.
Daytime temperatures are expected to rise to around 40 degrees in the western half of Tennessee and should improve to above freezing in eastern counties.
Forecasters say the travel problems should be short lived.
