BRISTOL, Tenn. — Dobyns-Bennett felt pretty good heading into halftime of its Arby’s Classic quarterfinal contest against Urspring on Friday night.
For 16 minutes, the Tribe stood toe to toe with the physical German squad and went into the break trailing by just a single point. But if the Indians felt like they had taken Urspring’s best shot, they were about to find out otherwise.
Urspring knocked down six unanswered 3-pointers to open the third quarter, ripping off 20 straight points to dispatch the Indians en route to a 72-43 victory that sealed a berth in tonight’s semifinal round. The Germans outscored D-B 26-5 in the decisive third period, a stretch Urspring coach Michael Spocker summed up as the best eight minutes of basketball he’s ever seen his team play.
