Claims that three men were about to shoot up Johnson City Medical Center Thursday to duplicate the Newtown, Conn., school massacre, resulting the hospital's lock down, proved to be a ploy by a woman facing arrest on a shoplifting charge, police said in reports.
Sherry Morgan, 28,107 E. College St., Jonesborough, called a hospital operator during a bathroom break on a visit to JCMC under police guard and reported the threat, resulting in the hospital's lock down and a full-scale response from more than a dozen law enforcement officers, police said.
Morgan, also known as Sherry Pierce, had been arrested earlier in the day on a shoplifting charge. Police said she pretended to be ill and was taken to JCMC under guard for examination and treatment.
