KINGSPORT — Friday’s basketball game between Dobyns-Bennett and David Crockett served as a measuring stick for both schools.
The young Pioneers saw just how far they have to progress in order to compete with the top teams in the Big 8 Conference.
The Indians, meanwhile, saw the limitless potential they possess when they turn up the heat on defense and share the ball on offense.
The Tribe forced 28 turnovers, shot 53 percent from the floor and raced away to a 75-44 victory inside the Buck Van Huss Dome.
D-B coach Charlie Morgan made the decision to delay the start of his team’s season in favor of some extra practice time. That seems wise in hindsight after the Indians followed up their blowout win over Morristown East in Tuesday’s season opener with another stellar outing against Crockett.
