Sullivan County Sheriff's Office
A juvenile began arguing with family members during a Thanksgiving gathering at a residence off the Blountville Highway. He reportedly "threw a can of food" at one person and heaved a bag of flour into the living room, where it burst open. The juvenile also allegedly bit his aunt in the forearm, threatened to stab a man with a screwdriver and pulled a counter out of the kitchen wall. He fled, was later located at another residence and taken into custody, refusing to talk with police about the incident.
A county man who was shooting at possums with a .22 caliber revolver accidentally discharged his firearm while attempting to pull the hammer, shooting himself in the knee. He was transported by ambulance to Holston Valley Medical Center.
A vehicle crash was reported on Brownlow Road, where a Ford Ranger struck a parked Cadillac. The pickup driver allegedly admitted drinking eight beers to the responding officer, then stated he was, "going to go to jail." But before police arrived, according to witness statements, the suspect cursed at the owner of the car he had hit, quickly downed two more beers and urinated in the road. He was arrested for DUI, driving on a revoked license and indecent exposure.
Wise County Sheriff's Office
A woman told dispatch that a female was on top of her car beating the windows. The caller said she attempted to drive to the police department with the woman still on her vehicle, but she jumped off.
Kingsport Police Department
At 8:30 a.m. an officer located an intoxicated man standing in an alley behind West Sullivan Street. The man — who had taken off his jacket, shirt, shoes and socks — was frigid and allegedly unable to answer simple questions. He stated he had taken sinus medication, was arrested for his own safety.
A caller claimed to "have video" of a vehicle driving into a fence on Roan Street.
Hawkins County Sheriff's Office
Police spotted a vehicle cross the center line of Stanley Valley Road several times. When a stop was conducted the officer allegedly observed the driver stuff "a large amount" of marijuana in his mouth, while his left nostril had white residue. He reportedly told police had been "snorting pills" to treat back pain and ate the weed to "hide it." He was arrested.
A motorist in Church Hill struck a utility pole on California Avenue, telling police he veered off the road while attempting to retrieve a cigarette dropped in the seat. The reporting officer says when asked if he'd been drinking, "he uttered he was drunk and to take him to jail." After performing poorly on field sobriety he was arrested.
