GRAY — Sullivan South’s playoff push ran into an immovable object on Friday night.
Daniel Boone’s rugged linemen took control of the trenches during a pivotal third period and muscled their way to a 30-16 win in a crucial Big 8 Conference game.
The Trailblazers went into halftime clinging to a 9-3 lead, but they came out for the second half as a team on a mission. Boone coach Jeremy Jenkins said the change in intensity level wasn’t a result of anything he drew up on the chalkboard.
Boone’s defense limited the Rebels to minus-2 net yards in the third quarter. If not for a Trailblazer turnover that set up South at Boone’s 6-yard line for an easy two-play touchdown drive, the final margin could have been even more one-sided.
