KINGSPORT — Nestled within the borders of the Tri-Cities is one of the finest high school soccer rivalries in the state. Take two words — Science Hill — combine them with Dobyns-Bennett, and you usually get something pretty outstanding.
Asked what makes the rivalry so special, Science Hill’s Rachel Jones offered the most straightfoward of answers.
Fitting, seeing as Jones etched her name into that rich tradition on Thursday night.
The sophomore forward set up Hannah Torbett for the decisive goal in the second period of sudden death, her magnificent pass over the top of the Tribe defense the centerpiece of the Lady Hilltoppers’ 2-1 comeback win in the championship match of the District 1-AAA girls soccer tournament at Indian Highland Park.
