South volleyball headed to state, again

KINGSPORT  — Sullivan South’s dominance across the volleyball spectrum is unparalled in local sports annals over the last three decades.

The Lady Rebels will be going to the TSSAA’s Class AAA state tournament next week for the 27th time.

South (47-7) defeated Farragut (34-16) Tuesday night  25-22, 25-17, 25-16 in a Class AAA sectional contest.

The spirited Rebels didn’t just win, they dominated. Farragut must have checked its game at the door because the intensity belonged to South from the get-go.

Since the program’s inception in 1980, the school has strung together a lot of trophies and won three state championships.
