While hunting memories are treasured, over the years they can sometimes blur together. But you never forget the first deer you ever harvested.
Nathan Lucas of Christiansburg, Va., should have particularly vivid recall. During Virginia's special Youth Deer Hunting Day on Sept. 29, he bagged a monster in Montgomery County.
His trophy 10-pointer (shown) was killed with a Remington .308 bolt-action rifle.
"I was amazed at the size of the deer," said the youngster, who was in his third year of trying for one.
His dad, Michael Lucas, was one proud papa.
"I was so excited for him," his father said. "It isn't very often a young hunter gets a chance at a buck this size."comments powered by Disqus
