Tennessee coach Derek Dooley underwent surgery on his fractured right hip Tuesday but plans to guide the Vols from the coaches’ booth in the press box Saturday at Mississippi State.
Dooley first revealed the hip injury at practice Tuesday. Tennessee said in a release that Dooley had been experiencing hip pain for the last two months. An MRI on Friday revealed a fracture that required immediate surgery.
The surgery was conducted after practice by Dr. Russell Betcher and Dr. Greg Mathien of the Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic at the UT Medical Center.
