ABINGDON, Va. -- GOP Presidential challenger Mitt Romney affirmed his support for the coal industry Friday before a large crowd of supporters at Carter Machinery Co. in Abingdon.
People began lining up at 5 a.m. to get in to hear Romney's pro-coal talk in a gravel lot framed with heavy equipment.
As they came in, many supporters were handed hard hats and signs supporting coal.
