Ralph B. Hawkins, 74.

BLOUNTVILLE — A Kingsport bonding company owner who was arrested last week for allegedly hiring a convicted felon who was shot dead while acting as a bounty hunter for him has a new court date.

Ralph B. Hawkins, 74, of Kingsport — owner of Tri-City Bonding Co., 276 Packing House Road — is now set for a Nov. 16 appearance on a charge of employing a convicted felon to act as an agent of a bondsman, a Class A misdemeanor.

He is also set for a hearing on a motion to suspend Tri-City Bonding’s bondwriting privileges in all courts of the 2nd Judicial District on that date.

Hawkins was arrested Sept. 24.

He remains free on a $2,500 cash bond.
