GATE CITY — Veteran coach Amy Reed, obviously looking beyond the Clinch Mountain District race, believes every match has a purpose in determining her Gate City volleyball team’s postseason destiny.
She saw several positives and only a few negatives Thursday night in a 25-11, 25-15, 25-17 victory over Lee High as the Lady Blue Devils completed the first half of their district schedule.
“It wasn’t a bad night,’’ Reed said. “We were a little off key in the second game. After starting a little rocky, we came back pretty strong and that was good to see. “Overall, our passing was pretty good. We blocked and picked up Lee’s tips rather well.’’
Gate City (10-2, 4-0) will be taking a break from the rigors of district play by appearing Saturday in a Castlewood tournament and in another tourney the following week at Northwood.
