BRISTOL, Tenn. — Dobyns-Bennett wasn’t playing for a conference volleyball championship at Viking Hall Tuesday night. But the Lady Indians were still playing to win.
Outside hitter Cydnee Morrisette flexed her muscles in a critical outburst that denied Tennessee High upset hopes. The Tribe prevailed, 25-23, 25-20, 25-15.
The Lady Indians finished the regular season tied with Science Hill as Big 8 Conference regular season runner up. Dobyns-Bennett (35-11, 11-3) will flip a coin with the Lady Hilltoppers Thursday for the second seed in the upcoming District 1-AAA tournament.
Had D-B lost to the Lady Vikings Tuesday night, Science Hill — which concurrently lost to conference champ Sullivan South — would have retained the No. 2 seed all to itself.
