Each month, Sunday Stories turns back the clock for a Scrapbook Flashback. And, with football season in full gear, we've decided to devote the September edition to an age-old ritual that bolsters school spirit and brings alumni back to town year in and year out.
In September, Scrapbook Flashback will celebrate "Homecoming: Way Back When."
Of course, the catch - for a Scrapbook Flashback - is that all of the photos have to be at least 25 years old. So anything pre-1987 is fair game.
For the record, our "Homecoming: Way Back When" theme is not limited to photos of the homecoming court either. Although we look forward to seeing some homecoming queens and their courts (from way back when), we'd also love to see photos of homecoming parades, pep rallies, tailgate parties, homecoming dances, homecoming competitions (i.e. powder puff football games) and, of course, the games themselves.
Just remember, the photos have to be at least 25 years old or older.
Photos must be received by Wednesday, Sept. 19.
Here's how to submit a picture(s):
Scan and email it to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Just be sure that it's at least one megabyte and 200 dpi. Also, send it as an attachment to an email and not as a link to any outside site.
Mail or deliver it to: Kingsport Times-News, Attn: Carmen Musick, 701 Lynn Garden Drive, Kingsport, TN 37662.
We recommend that you have a copy made and send it. However, if you send the original and want it back, please be sure to include a self-addressed stamped envelope or make plans to come back and pick it up after it publishes in late September.
In addition to the photo, be sure to include your full name and a description of the photo including when and where it was taken and who's in it, along with a way that we can contact you - just in case we have any questions. So dust off those photo albums! It's time for another Scrapbook Flashback!
And, don't forget that we also welcome your current school, sports and special occasion photos any time of the year in Sunday Scrapbook inside Sunday Stories, a weekly publication of the Kingsport Times-News.comments powered by Disqus
