New clinic to offer mental health time out

August 25th, 2012 11:30 pm by Jennifer Sprouse

A mental health walk-in facility has plans to open in downtown Johnson City in mid-September, which will continue Frontier Health’s mission to reach all people needing care, from the lowest level to the more long-term forms of rehabilitation.

The CALM Center, an acronym for it’s primary purpose of working crisis, assessment, liaison and monitoring situations, is slowly coming together, with staffing and building fixtures almost complete and ready to open.

“This particular facility is going to have … probably the lowest level of intervention kind of care that we provide,” Randy Jessee, senior vice president of specialty services at Frontier Health, said. “Part of that facility is going to be a kind of walk-in center. A place to come and talk to someone for a brief period of time, to rest, to be in a comfortable, warm environment.”
