At least three people were taken to area hospitals on Monday after a crash involving several vehicles at the intersection of Highway 126 and Highway 394 in Blountville.

Sullivan County Volunteer firefighters along with members of the Avoca Volunteer Fire Department and Sullivan County EMS responded to the crash.

A large tank was ejected from the back of the pickup truck belonging to Blountville Septic Tank Service and landed in the middle of the intersection.

A tanker truck was also involved in the crash but suffered only minor damage.

Firefighters spread oil absorbent material to soak up the large amount of leaking fluids that was deposited on the roadway. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, which occurred at about 6:45 p.m.
