Assistant principals chosen for Central High, Sullivan Elementary/Middle schools

August 2nd, 2012 1:50 am by Rick Wagner

BLOUNTVILLE -- Two vice principal appointments made this week finish out the academic administrative appointments in the Sullivan County school system for 2012-13.

Sullivan County Schools Human Resources Director Larry Hall confirmed Wednesday the appointment of Jonathan Fields as assistant principal at Sullivan Central High School and Darrell Moore as assistant principal at the combined Sullivan Elementary and Middle schools.

Except for selecting a new athletic director, baseball coach and physical education teacher at Sullivan Central High School, the two appointments mark the final appointments of administrative positions in the system for the coming school year. The Central positions are vacant because of the resignation of Brandon Krantz on Monday.

Police confirmed allegations against Krantz, a 12-year employee of the system, are the subject of an investigation but would not disclose the nature of the allegations.

Hall said his office is still working to fill teacher positions and the vacancy left by Krantz.

One of those teaching positions newly vacant is a biology teaching position at Sullivan North High formerly held by Fields.

Fields replaces Josh Davis, who last year left the Kingsport system to become an assistant principal at Central but for this coming year was named assistant principal at Rock Springs Elementary School.

A fifth-grade teaching and administrative assistant position was left vacant at Indian Springs Elementary with the appointment of Moore as an assistant principal at the newly combined Sullivan Elementary and Middle schools.

Former middle school Principal Zada Church is becoming principal over a combined K-8 school there, which the Board of Education at its Monday meeting may vote to name Sullivan Gardens K-8. The two schools already shared a cafeteria.

The former principal of Sullivan Elementary, Tom Bowers, was named principal of North Middle School in Bloomingdale.
