Scrapbook Flashback: Share your OLD family vacation photos

July 18th, 2012 3:45 pm by Carmen Musick

Each month, Sunday Stories turns back the clock for a Scrapbook Flashback. And, in August, it's one that most everyone can participate in.

The theme is "My Family Vacation." Of course, the catch - for a Scrapbook Flashback - is that all of the photos have to beat least25 years old or older.

Anything pre-1987 is fair game. We'd love to see photos of family outings to places like Gold Rush Junction or Silver Dollar City (depending on the time frame), Tweetsie Railroad, Ghost Town in the Sky, the Land of Oz, and, of course, Myrtle Beach.

Wherever your travels took you and your family, prior to 1987, there's sure to be evidence of the journey in the form of treasured family photos. And we can't wait to see them.

Photos must be received by Friday, Aug. 3.

Here's how to submit a picture(s):

Scan and email it to: sundayscrapbook@timesnews.net.

Just be sure that it's at least one megabyte and 200 dpi. Also, send it as an attachment to an email and not as a link to any outside site.

Mail or deliver it to: Kingsport Times-News, Attn: Carmen Musick, 701 Lynn Garden Drive, Kingsport, TN 37662.
We recommend that you have a copy made and send it. However, if you send the original and want it back, please be sure to include a self-addressed stamped envelope or make plans to come back and pick it up after it publishes in mid-August.

In addition to the photo, be sure to include your full name and a description of the photo including when and where it was taken and who's in it, along with a way that we can contact you - just in case we have any questions. Dust off those photo albums! It's time for another Scrapbook Flashback!

Of course, we also welcome your current vacation photos, as well as snapshots of local happenings, church functions, sporting events and natural attractions, each week in Sunday Scrapbook inside Sunday Stories, a weekly publication of the Kingsport Times-News.
