Volunteers needed

The following organizations need volunteers to help them do their vital work in the community.


The Sullivan County Department of Archives and Tourism seeks volunteers to assist with preservation of historic documents and to assist with area tourism events. Call 323-4660.


Sullivan South Meals on Wheels, serving the Colonial Heights, Rock Springs and Sullivan Gardens communities, needs volunteers to deliver and prepare meals. Volunteers work one to two hours in the morning, once a month. Call 239-9071.

Vision Productions/Billy Wayne Ministries needs volunteers to help with grounds, maintenance, office and janitorial work. Call 245-1551.


Wellington Place in Colonial Heights needs volunteers 18 and older to interact with seniors in areas including art, gardening, reading, playing cards, entertaining and pet therapy. Call (423) 239-0022.


Wellmont Hospice needs volunteers in the Tri-Cities area to work in various capacities, including assisting in the office/reception area and at the Hospice House, providing companionship to patients, sitting with home patients to provide respite care to caregivers, and assisting with bereavement follow-up services. Wexford House of Kingsport needs auxiliary members, volunteers who visit with residents, provide companionship, organize fund-raising events and decide on new projects the auxiliary has on its agenda. Call 288-3988.


Abuse Alternatives needs monitors to answer hotline calls, perform shelter screenings, begin client intake, lead orientation and assign rooms to new clients, transport clients to appointments and help with general office work. Call Sue Wright at 652-9098.


Amedisys Hospice Care seeks volunteers from Kingsport and the surrounding areas to work for two to four hours per week to support hospice caregivers by sitting with their loved ones as they run errands. Free hospice training and certification provided. Call (423) 288-9777.


American Red Cross of Northeast Tennessee needs nurses, volunteers for disaster services, instructors for CPR and babysitting classes, and volunteers with general office skills for receptionist, data entry, public relations and fund-raising. Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Te n n e s s e e needs volunteers to serve as Big Brothers and Big Sisters to local children. The organization’s general office also needs volunteer help. Call 247-3240.
