A Kingsport man who allegedly Tased his girlfriend, repeatedly slammed her head to the floor, and kicked, punched and slapped her several times has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
According to a Kingsport Police incident report, John Begley, 21, 3194 Tiffany Court, was arrested at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday after a series of alleged assaults resulted in his girlfriend being transported by ambulance to Holston Valley Medical Center.
The report states the alleged victim told police that Begley began assaulting her at approximately 11 p.m. on Tuesday. She reported the assaults "became more intense" between 5 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. Wednesday. She told police that Begley Tased her once, that he had repeatedly kicked, punched and slapped her, and that he had grabbed her hair and slammed her head into the floor "6-8 times." She described having lost consciousness for a period of time.
The report states a juvenile, whose identity was not revealed, was in the apartment when the assaults are alleged to have occurred.
The woman reportedly fled to a neighboring apartment, to which police initially responded.
After speaking with the alleged victim, police attempted to make contact with Begley at the couple's apartment. He refused to answer the door. The initial report states a warrant for Begley's arrest was obtained, and a follow-up report states he was arrested at the residence at approximately 5:30 p.m.
