First Community Bank is committed to personalized service

Jackie Charles, Vice President and Business Development Officer, has worked with First Community for most of her 18 years in banking.

"At First Community Bank, we are committed to personalized service and local decision-making from people you know and trust," says Jackie Charles, VicePresident and Business Development Officer.

Founded in 1993 on the premise that individuals and small-to-medium sized businesses were underserved by the larger traditional banks, First Community Bank offers personal and business deposit accounts, mortgage loans, auto loans, commercial loans, home equity lines of credit, single-payment loans, investment services, and much more.

Jackie has worked with First Community for most of her 18 years in banking. Her office is located in the West Main Street branch in Rogersville, but she spends mostof her time outside the office serving her customers and her community.

A typical week might find her at one of the area schools conducting financial education or participating in a civic club meeting, possibly followed by attending a Rogersville Main Street activity,a program that promotes tourism and business development in the town. In addition, the bank is actively involved in the Chamber of Commerce and a myriad of other worthy community projects.

"We want to serve and to give back... the community has made this bank what it is today. That’s why First Community is committed to giving back to our region financially or in presence - whatever way we can," says Charles.

If it's hard to comprehend how Jackie fits all the regional activities into her business work schedule, it becomes unfathomable when you factor in the participation she continues in her private life. She is very involved with Shades of Nefertiti, an organization that provides positive role models for young women of color through mentorship; serves as an officer for the Rural Health Consortium and the Boys and Girls Club, is a Rotarian, and assists the local United Way. She enjoys strong relationships with her husband and church (her husband is the pastor of Hasson Street Christian Church), as well as her adult daughters, sons-in-law, and "five grandbabies."

A lifelong native of Hawkins County, Jackie has traveled all over the country but prefers her home to remain in East Tennessee. "I was raised here, and I raised my children here. I am proud of my hometown, and I am proud to be a part of First Community Bank."
