A Kingsport man has died in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 26.
According to Kingsport Police, the wreck happened at approximately 9:12 a.m.
Police report Steven R. Eastis, 46, 2413 Little Valley Road, was killed when his eastbound 1997 Ford F-150 pickup crashed near the 1.4 mile marker. Police report the truck veered to the right and struck a guard rail, then crossed over the eastbound lanes into the grassy median where it struck a cable barrier. The truck continued across the westbound lanes and struck a tree on the shoulder of the interstate before coming to a stop.
Police say Eastis was not wearing a seatbelt.
Based on evidence at the scene and witness information, police advise speed is not believed to be a factor. An investigation is ongoing.
