Scrapbook Flashback: Seeking old prom pictures

April 12th, 2012 11:00 am by Staff Report

It's prom season in the Tri-Cities and, to mark the occasion, Sunday Stories is inviting readers to take a stroll down memory lane in our very first Scrapbook Flashback.

For this very special Sunday Scrapbook project, we're asking readers to share their old prom pictures. And we're not just talking about the posed picture of you and your date at the big dance. We'd love to have snapshots covering everything from the family photo shoots before the big event to decorations and dancing.

To keep it interesting, we're going to ask that you only send photos from 1987 and earlier. As hard as it is for some of us in the age group to believe, it's been 25 years since the Class of 1987 held its senior prom. Of course, it is a Scrapbook Flashback - so the older the pictures, the better.

There are three basic ways to submit a picture(s):

* Scan and email it to:

Just be sure that it's at least one megabyte and 200 dpi. Also, send it as an attachment to an email and not as a link to any outside site.

Mail or deliver it to: Kingsport Times-News, Attn: Carmen Musick, 701 Lynn Garden Drive, Kingsport, Tenn. 37662.

We recommend that you have a copy made and send it. However, if you send the original and want it back, please be sure to include a self-addressed stamped envelope or make plans to come back and pick it up after it publishes in late April.

Photos must be received by Friday, April 20. In addition to the photo, be sure to include your full name and a description of who's in the photo, when and where it was taken, and a way that we can contact you - just in case we have any questions.

So dust out those photo albums and dig out those old prom pictures. It's time for a Scrapbook Flashback!
