A-1 Painting can handle commercial and residential projects

Few things upgrade a home faster or more economically than a freshly-painted room or exterior. Paul Carey, owner of A-1 Painting, has been proving this on countless homes in the Kingsport region.

A professional painter for more than 40 years, Carey and three employees handle either commercial or residential projects. He prides himself on quality work and insists that "satisfaction is absolutely guaranteed. We can do interior or exterior painting jobs, as well," he says.

"I can't remember ever wanting to be anything but a painter," he adds.

A painting job begins with a free estimate. Carey can help make color selections and determine what formulation of paint is needed. Customers may provide the paint or Carey will purchase it and bring it to the site before starting work. Of course, wood is usually the surface to be painted, but brick or even aluminum siding can be painted also. While painting is the bulk of A-1 Painting's business, Carey stresses that they also pressure wash and do minor carpentry and drywall work.

The newest product that A-1 offers its customers is a sealant that can be applied to old decks, repairing cracks and restoring the look and finish. Carey says the results are dramatic and are guaranteed for the life of the deck. Another product some customers need is low VOC paint that has few emissions and, while not a lot of people are asking for it, it can be necessary for those with severe allergies or who want to minimize their exposure to chemicals.

Carey emphasizies that a home or business is a major investment and keeping it looking good does take some commitment to maintenance. Generally, exteriors should be repainted about every five years but interior painting can last much longer, if care is taken. "There's a building in downtown Kingsport that we painted 16 or 17 years ago. It still looks good," he says with pride. For estimates, call 423-246-6308.
