The Major George Gibson Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution was represented by the Regent Charlotte Brooks at the 116th Annual State Conference held in Norfolk, Va., March 15-18.
Special guest at the conference, which was attended by approximately 700 daughters from across the state, was the President General of the NSDAR, Merry Ann T. Wright, who spoke at the opening night banquet. She reported on the restoration of the DAR Library lay lights at NSDAR Headquarters at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C.
During the VADAR Memorial Service, Brooks placed a white flower in the Memorial Wreath in memory of Imogene Riley Ault who died in June 2011. Ault was a faithful and active member of the chapter for 38 years.
Brooks also participated in the business sessions, the Opening Night Banquet, the Cameo Luncheon, and the Regents’ Night Banquet. During the Regents’ Night Banquet, each of chapters from across the state reported briefly on the activities of their chapter during the past year.
Major George Gibson received several awards and recognitions for the past year’s activities, including first place in the Constitution Week activities scrapbook for the third year.
