Sheriff: Facebook spat led to shooting deaths of Mountain City couple
MOUNTAIN CITY, Tenn. (AP) — Authorities believe a Facebook slight led to the shooting death of a Mountain City couple whose baby was found unharmed in the mothers' arms.
Jamie Curd and Marvin Potter are each charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the slayings of Billy Payne Jr. and his girlfriend, Billie Jean Hayworth.
Johnson County Sheriff Mike Reece said the victims were Facebook friends with Potter's daughter and the daughter got angry when they deleted her as a friend.
Reece said the victims complained to police that she was harassing them.
The case went to court and Curd, who had romantic feelings for the daughter, testified against the couple.
Curd, who is 38, and Potter, who is 60, were being held Wednesday on $200,000 bond each. They did not have attorneys.
