A Kingsport man registered as a violent sex offender on Tennessee's sexual offender registry is accused of failing to report during a three-month period he was homeless.
Paul C. Zamorano, 28, was arrested Friday on an alleged violation of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's Sexual Offender Registry.
A Sullivan County grand jury indictment returned Jan. 17 alleges that Zamorano, described as a violent sex offender, failed to report in person as required during the months of July, August, Setempber and October. The indictment alleges Zamorano's failure to report stretched from "on or about July 30, 2011, through October 30, 2011."
The indictment states Zamorano was added to the registry due to an Aug. 20, 2004, statutory rape conviction.
A Sullivan County Sheriff's Office report lists Zamorano's address at the time of his arrest as that of the John R. Hay House. However, the sex offender registry still lists Zamorano as homeless, as of Sunday.
According to its Web site, the Hay House is a nonprofit ministry founded on Christian principles that helps convicted offenders become productive members of society.
