Bluff City man, accused child rapist charged in alleged child pornography conspiracy

Ricky Callahan and Frankie Myers.

Two Bluff City men -- one of whom was recently arrested for five alleged rapes of a young girl -- have been arrested and charged with possession and conspiracy to possess child pornography in a 20-count grand jury indictment.

Frankie J. Myers, 56, and Ricky Callahan, 53, both of 893 Pleasant Grove Road, were each arrested Saturday on 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and 10 counts of conspiracy to commit sexual exploitation of a minor. A Sullivan County grand jury returned sealed indictments against the pair on Jan. 31.

According to court records, Callahan was last arrested Jan. 19 on five counts of rape of a child. The charges allege he raped a young girl when she was between seven and 12 years of age. The offenses are alleged to have occurred between January 1997 and July 2002. He was released from the jail Jan. 23 on a $50,000 bond.

The charges Callahan shares with Myers allege the pair possessed and conspired to possess "material that includes a minor engaged in sexual activity" on or about August 10, 2011. The amount of material or where it was found is not specified.

No one was immediately available to provide further information about what was found. As of Monday morning, the cases had not yet been assigned within the Sullivan County District Attorney's office.

The person who investigated the case, Sullivan County Sheriff's Office Det. Georganne Pratt, was not expected to be at work until later this afternoon. Monday afternoon, SCSO spokeswoman Leslie Earhart advised Pratt would be unable to provide additional details without consulting with the assigned prosecutor.

Myers was released from the Sullivan County jail on Sunday after posting a $25,000 bond. As of noon Monday, Callahan remained jailed in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
