SEVIERVILLE A family feud ended with a gunshot wound when a local man used a .22-caliber revolver to break up a fight between his two adult sons.

Police could not release the names of those involved because the incident is considered a case of domestic violence, and state law prohibits them from giving information that could identify the victim of a domestic violence incident, police spokesman Bob Stahlke said.

He said the report shows two adult brothers, aged 34 and 40, were returning to their home on Snyder Road when they got into an argument that escalated into a physical altercation. Both brothers live with their parents, Stahlke explained.

When the brothers reached the house, the older brother went inside and told his parents about the altercation while the younger brother remained outside and was still acting belligerent, Stahlke said.

Their father told him to leave the house, and fired the pistol into the door when he tried to enter.

The 34-year-old then walked away from the house and property and started walking down Snyder Road, where passing drivers saw him and called dispatchers.

His injuries were not believed to be life threatening, Stahlke said.

No charges have been filed, he said.
