JOHNSON CITY — Bank of Tennessee on Friday announced it has named the American Heart Association as its 2012 Charity of the Year. Darla Scott, chief financial officer of Bank of Tennessee, has also accepted the nomination of chairperson for 2012/2013 Tri-Cities Circle of Red.

Bank of Tennessee kicked off the campaign with the American Heart Association National “Wear Red Day” event Friday and will continue to have activities and events to raise awareness through April.

“We will end the campaign to coincide with the annual Go Red for Women luncheon on May 4th at MeadowView Marriott Convention Center in Kingsport,” said Scott. “We recognize how important it is to raise awareness about heart-healthy lifestyle choices and are excited to have this opportunity to educate, raise funds and support this great organization.”

While Bank of Tennessee supports many local charities throughout the year, a team of employees selects a specific organization as its Charity of the Year. That charity is the focus of employee fund raising and activities.

The American Heart Association aligns with values the bank has embraced to promote a healthier lifestyle by offering nutritional and physical fitness benefits to its employees.

Bank of Tennessee has been serving the greater Tri-Cities area since 1974 with 11 locations.
