NORTON — Stan Wilson Gymnasium was packed to the rafters on Saturday night, giving a regular-season battle between unbeaten basketball teams a decidedly postseason feel.
It’s too early to say whether J.I. Burton and Twin Springs ultimately will meet with the Region D crown on the line this March, but one thing is certain: The Titans made enough crucial plays on Saturday to walk out of Norton with their undefeated record intact.
Twin Springs built an 11-point by the end of the third quarter and used a deadly combination of hustle plays and free throws down the stretch to earn a 55-45 victory in a bruising non-district clash.
“I was really proud,” Twin Springs coach John McCrary said. “Our kids came out and gave a heck of an effort after having played last night.
“I was concerned we might come in a little out of gas after last night, but they did a good job.”comments powered by Disqus
