A Gate City resident has been arrested after allegedly catching her husband with another woman and ramming his vehicle with her car multiple times — all while toting a 5-year-old as her passenger.
A Sullivan County Sheriff's Office arrest report states the incident began at approximately 9:40 Monday morning, at 608 Spring Valley Circle, Gate City, Va. Charles Estep, 59, reportedly arrived home with his 34-year-old "girlfriend" a passenger in his Ford Taurus. When the pair realized his wife was home they backed out of the driveway and left the scene.
The report says his wife, Libby Estep, 58, of the same residence, followed his car in her Pontiac Bonneville. Each vehicle stopped in the parking lot of New Beginnings Fellowship Church in Bloomingdale, with Libby Estep allegedly exiting her vehicle and punching her husband's windows. Charles Estep and his girlfriend then drove out of the parking lot, with his wife reentering her car to pursue them.
According to the police report, Libby Estep rammed the rear of her husband's car on Lucy Road. When he pulled into oncoming lanes of traffic, hoping she would pass, she allegedly drove into the passenger side of his car. Libby Estep then drove away and Charles Estep called police.
The report says his girlfriend was transported to Holston Valley Medical Center following the incident, but did not specify any injuries.
The reporting officer states he learned Libby Estep had a five-year-old in her car when the incident occurred. She later met with police at New Beginnings Church and was taken into custody. She is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident.
A check of Charles Estep's record revealed his license was revoked for failing to report an accident in Tennessee. He was also arrested and charged with driving on a revoked license.comments powered by Disqus
