Kingsport man indicted on child rape charges

Nicholas W. Hillis, 20.

A 20-year-old Kingsport man has been indicted on two charges of raping a child.

According to records in Blountville court, on Nov. 1 a Sullivan County grand jury returned true bills against Nicholas W. Hillis, 20, of 2601 North John B. Dennis Highway, apartment 801.

Kingsport Police Department Det. Toby Wells says Hillis was arrested Friday at the Kingsport Town Center. He was transported to the Sullivan County jail in Blountville and released upon posting $100,000 bond.

The indictments state the victim was less than 13-years-old when the rapes allegedly occurred. The incident dates are listed as on or about Jan. 15 and Jan. 22 of this year, with the charges being Class A felonies.

Det. Wells said Kingsport police are investigating other allegations of crimes committed by Hillis, but declined to provide specifics at this time.
