LewisGoetz keeps companies running

November 11th, 2011 10:05 am by Staff Report

Most people don't think too much about the parts that keep equipment running unless it stops. Unless those people are LewisGoetz people.

As North America's leader in mission critical hose, sealing and belting products, LewisGoetz understands that its products provide a vital link in the chain of production. That's why the phrase "We Keep You Running" is more than just a slogan to LewisGoetz and its employees.

"It articulates our understanding of the difficult day-to-day reality our customers face and our deep commitment to be there as a willing and dependable partner in production. It's a promise we prove every day for thousands of customers all across the nation," the company website explains.

LewisGoetz was built through a series of acquisitions designed to consolidate what remains a very fragmented industry.

"The goal is to blanket North America. Most of what they focused on originally was steel and coal. But they wanted to diversify and they have," said Starli Hale, general manager of the Kingsport Division.

Today, LewisGoetz serves a wide range of industries, including: steel, aggregate, agriculture, OEM, mining, power generation, pulp and paper, chemical, oil and gas, tank truck, rental and construction, food processing, package handling, pharmaceuticals and rail.

Hale said LewisGoetz understands its customers can't afford downtime or environmental or safety risks. That's why the company works hard to provide quality and reliable products from the most reputable manufacturers, along with a wide range of installation and maintenance services, all customized to meet the customer's individual needs.

"Basically, we gear what we do at this location towards the businesses that are here. There's a large OEM market, so we fabricate hydraulic kits. We service customers, like Domtar, with conveyor belting and gasketing, and, customers like Eastman, with hose," Hale explained.

In April of 2011, the Kingsport Division of LewisGoetz relocated from Sullivan Street to the Holston Industrial Park in Blountville, a site more centrally located between all of its customers. The division has five employees: Hale, the general manager; Lisa Poore, operations manager; Shelburne Ferguson, warehouse manager; and Fred Taylor and Rusty Haynes, both warehouse associates.

"We try to bring value through cost savings and service. One of our big focuses is on cost savings, not necessarily in product but in down time and product selection," Hale explained.

"We make sure that we've got direct contact constantly with our customers. We build our inventory based on those customers," she said.

Working in conjunction with LewisGoetz' various locations around the country, Hale and her staff are able to streamline local operations and manage inventory, while still having the ability to obtain needed products for their clients in a timely manner, usually the next day.

"We can supply just about anything. We joke that we couldn't have a catalog because we couldn't carry it around," Hale said.

The Kingsport Division serves a geographic area that stretches from Chattanooga to Hendersonville, N.C., and from Norton to Abingdon, Va.

"With the industries that we serve, I do expect that we'll grow and add employees to continue to service our customers," Hale said.

The Kingsport Division of LewisGoetz is located at 2015 Holston Industrial Park Drive in Blountville. The phone number is 423-279-0273 or 1-800-824-2172. To learn more about the company, visit the website at:
