5K heralds return of Speedway In Lights

   BRISTOL, Tenn. — Just days before the first night of the 15th season of Speedway In Lights, Bristol Motor Speedway will open the course to runners and walkers of all ages for the second annual Speedway In Lights 5K Run/Walk on Sunday.

   The event, which begins at 6:30 p.m., offers participants a preview of the AutoTrader.com   Speedway In Lights event while also supporting Speedway Children’s Charities. All funds raised through the event will benefit the Bristol chapter of the nonprofit organization.

   Adults wishing to enter the 5K Run/Walk can do so for $20 in advance of the event or $25 the day of the race. Children 12 and under may enter for $7. Children 3 and under will be admitted free of charge and will not be timed.

   All adult participants will receive a long-sleeved event T-shirt and each participant 12 and under will receive a BMS sling bag.

   Those who register in advance may pick up their race packages on Saturday between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. at Fleet Feet Sports, or between 3 and 6 p.m. at BMS the day of the event.

   Several prizes will be up for grabs in a variety of divisions. The event will be certified and chip-timed by the State of Franklin Track Club.

   Kingsport Speedway

   KINGSPORT — Kingsport Speedway will host a swap meet this Saturday starting at 9 a.m.

   Anyone wishing to buy or sell new or used racing parts — ranging from engines to springs to trailers — is encouraged to attend the event, which will continue until 6 p.m.
