Prom expo notable event for symphony

   The Women’s Symphony Committee’s third annual Prom & Mom Expo is not only a chance for area moms and daughters to find unique holiday gifts, its also a major fund-raiser for the Symphony of the Mountains and the Youth Orchestra.

   The expo will be held from 1 to 6 p.m., Sunday, at MeadowView Conference Resort and Convention Center. Admission is $5. Tickets are available at the door.

   “Funding for their programs is based in part on the money raised at this event,” said Heidi Barnes, 2011 Prom & Mom Expo chairman. “That’s why it’s important for the expo to be a success so that our symphony and Youth Orchestra can continue to thrive in this region.”

   More than 30 vendors will offer merchandise ranging from formal wear to accessories to home décor. Fashion shows featuring local formalwear merchants will be held each half hour, along with entertainment provided by Holloway Dance School. DJ Express will be provide music throughout the afternoon. A special fashion show will be held at 5 p.m., featuring models who are this year’s symphony honorees.
