South's offense rolls against South-Doyle

KINGSPORT — For the better part of the regular season, Sullivan South’s offense surged and sputtered through fits of inconsistency.

But on Friday night, it all came together for the Rebels, and it couldn’t have happened at a better time.

With Charlie Moore under center and Jake Weaver back at full strength, South rolled up 425 yards of total offense, contained South-Doyle’s passing game and cruised into the second round of the Class 5A playoffs with a 35-12 victory over the Cherokees.

Weaver rushed for 167 yards and three touchdowns and Mitchell Crowe ran for 123 yards and a TD for the Rebels (7-4), who will travel to face Knoxville West next week in the second round.
