Stout line play sparks Trailblazers in Big 8 win

October 22nd, 2011 1:03 am by Dave Ongie

KINGSPORT — Daniel Boone’s linemen won every key battle up front, and those victories were enough to allow the Trailblazers to win the border war against Sullivan South in a key Big 8 Conference clash on Friday night.

Boone’s offensive line cleared the way for two 100-yard rushers, the defensive line came up with a huge goal-line stand in the waning moments of the contest and the ’Blazers escaped Death Valley with a 15-10 victory over South.

The win kept the Trailblazers in contention to secure a playoff spot. Boone plays David Crockett in the Musket Bowl next week.

“It’s a big win for us to keep our playoff hopes alive,” Boone coach Jeremy Jenkins said.
