Comedian brings 'Zany' act to the Paramount

October 21st, 2011 2:16 am by staff report

Bob Zany, known for performing on stage with his trademark cigar, will appear at 8 p.m., Oct. 29, at the Paramount Center for the Performing Arts in Bristol.

Zany’s voice is almost as familiar as his face, thanks to his weekly skewering of current events on the virally popular Zany Report, syndicated in more than 100 markets on the Bob and Tom Radio Network.

“Bob is always good for drive time laughs but I understand it is nothing like his live show,” said Darlene Cole, venues manager for the city. “He is always loaded with original material and has perfect comedic timing.”

Zany will be joined by special guest Patti Vasquez, who has performed in HBO’s Comedy Festival, the Chicago Comedy Festival and Marshall’s Women in Comedy Festival. She is also a regular guest on the Bob and Tom Radio Network.

Born Robert Earl Tetrault, Zany appeared as a contestant on “The Gong Show” in 1976. He was a guest on the TV special “George Schlatter’s Comedy Club” in 1986 and a contestant on “To Tell the Truth” in 1990. In 2006, he appeared on the Comedy Central special “The Friends of the Bob and Tom Show,” and the following year he was on “Last Comic Standing.” He also had roles in the films “Joe Dirt” and “The Informant.”
