ELIZABETHTON — The estranged wife of a man who was stabbed Wednesday has been arrested by the Carter County Sheriff’s Department and charged with attempted murder.
Danita Clark Whitehead-Church, 50, 1331 Rittertown Road, Hampton, was charged with attempted second-degree murder and especially aggravated burglary. She is scheduled to answer the charges in Sessions Court on Oct. 24.
Whitehead is accused of stabbing her husband, Edward Zane Church, 58, also of 1331 Rittertown Road, during a domestic disturbance. The stabbing took place at 354 Stout Hollow Road, Hampton, where deputies said he had been living. The couple had been separated for three months.
