Second Harvest food drive begins

BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP) — A food drive begins Monday in upper East Tennessee to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank.

Food City is accepting donations of non-perishable foods through Aug. 28.

The drive is in conjunction with NASCAR's race Saturday at Bristol Motor Speedway. Four-time Sprint Cup champion Jeff Gordon and Hendrick Motorsports have teamed with AARP in promoting the drive.

Donation vouchers for $1, $3 and $5 will be available for purchase at select Food City locations.

Second Harvest distributes food to some 200 food pantries in eight counties.
