July 24th, 2011 7:15 pm by staff report

Warriors’ Path State Park is preparing to celebrate the “good old days,” and everyone is invited to join the festivities.

The park’s 32nd annual Folklife Festival, featuring old-time music, tall tales, traditional games and authentic life-skills demonstrations, will be be held Saturday, July 30. The festivities will get under way at 11 a.m., and will take place in the park’s Open Air Chapel area and in the field between the pool parking lot and the campground.

The annual event celebrates the folk traditions of Northeast Tennessee and showcases the skills and abilities early settlers relied on for survival.

Volunteers will be on hand to demonstrate those traditional crafts and life skills — ranging from weaving and woodcraft to apple butter making, spinning and basketry — from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Warriors’ Path Muzzle Loaders from Kentucky will also be on hand to set up a pioneer encampment. They’ll demonstrate primitive cooking, tomahawk throwing, fire building and more.
