KINGSPORT — It’s time to “Get Out and Play” today as the 31st edition of Kingsport’s Fun Fest kicks off for nine days of fun. There will be lots of ways to play, with both festival favorites and new events filling up this year’s calendar.

You will be able to find a schedule of each day’s events in the Times-News throughout Fun Fest.

Downtown Kingsport will be the place to be today as Mardi Gras officially begins the festival at 11:30 a.m. in the Glen Bruce Park area on Broad Street near Church Circle. Mardi Gras is sponsored by Regions Bank and the Downtown Kingsport Association.

Before the bead tossing begins, though, get in the Fun Fest spirit by strolling through downtown and enjoying the windows decorated by businesses. The winners in this year’s annual window/ lobby decorating contest, sponsored by Regions Bank and the DKA, are Barefoot Chameleon for retail window, small; The Cash Company for professional lobby, small; and Bank of Tennessee for professional lobby, large.
